Definition

Descriptive of place is a type of descriptive text whose contents explain about a place or an object in accordance with the facts that exist.

Vocabulary adalah istilah dalam Bahasa Inggris untuk menyebut kosakata.

Word Order

Word order dalam bahasa Inggris merupakan sebuah susunan kata secara baku untuk membentuk sebuah kalimat yang memiliki makna utuh.

Seperti contohnya dengan kalimat “I love you” yang ternyata disusun dengan bentuk subject + verb + object (SVO) yang pada akhirnya memiliki arti untuk digunakan.

Jika dibalik susunannya, maka kata tersebut tidak memiliki arti sama sekali.

Monas National Monument

The National Monument, or “Monas” as it is popularly called, is one of the monuments built during the Soekarno era of fierce nationalism. The top of the National Monument (Monas) is Freedom Square. It stands for the people’s determination to achieve freedom and the crowning of their efforts in the Proclamation of Independence in August 1945. The 137-meter tall marble obelisk is topped with a flame coated with 35 kg of gold. The base houses a historical museum and a hall for meditations. The monument is open to the public and upon request the lift can carry visitors to the top, which offers a bird’s eye view on the city and the sea.

Go early to beat the crowds and the haze. It is easy for the less physically able as lifts take visitors to the top. The diorama exhibition in the basement gives such a distorted view of Indonesian history.

This imposing obelisk is Jakarta’s most famous landmark. Construction started in 1961 under President Soekarno but was not completed until 1975, under President Soeharto. The monument houses a couple of museums. The Freedom Hall depicts Indonesia’s struggle for independence through a series of dioramas, where as the Hall of Contemplation displays the original Declaration of Independence document and a recording of the speech.

Lawang Sewu

Lawang Sewu is a tourist spot as well as a historic building located in Semarang City, Central Java. The building is designed to resemble the letter L and has many windows and doors. Because of the many doors, the people named it Lawang sewu which means a thousand doors. Doors and windows can be seen in every corner of the building, totaling around 928 doors. In addition to its unique building design, Lawang Sewu has stained glass ornaments depicting the prosperity and beauty of Java, Dutch rule over Semarang, and the glory of the railroad. Other decorations on Lawang Sewu include pottery ornaments on the arch above the balcony, a small dome on the top of the tower, and the spire with bronze decoration. The unique side of this cultural heritage is the existence of a basement which is said to hold mystical stories. Because of its beauty, many tourists make it a major tourist destination when in Semarang.
